Isaac Albeniz ( 1860-1909 )


Isaac Albeniz lived through the nineteenth to the early part of the twentieth century

A Spanish Composer and accomplished pianist.
He was a child prodigy and was fortunate enough to study under Franz Liszt.
Albeniz was then able to travel throughout Europe and resided in his two favourite art centers of world, Paris and London.

While living between these two cities, Albeniz composed the traditional music of his Spanish homeland.
He made substantial use of the Spanish rhythms and harmonies that influenced him during his youth.
He gained considerable fame in his own country and became an important figure in the Spanish nationalist school of Music.

Albeniz's compositions, included a number of piano pieces, a group of songs each representing a different region of Spain, appropriately entitled "Iberia". He also composed Tangos.
